A Real Father

by Samantha   Jun 27, 2005

What is a father really supposed to be?
Isn't he supposed to be the one there putting a band-aid on your scraped knee?
Isn't he the one who is supposed to kiss your booboo's when your hurt?
Isn't he supposed to play with you in the mud & dirt?

Am I supposed to be his number one baby-girl?
Am I supposed to be more precious than any pearl?
Am I supposed to be the one he will walk down the wedding aisle someday,
The one he will come to when things aren't going the correct way..

I'm supposed to be the one who can talk to him about any little thing,
The one who should be sheltered under his wing.
But none of this is how it's supposed to be,
See, my father could care less about me.

He spends his time drinking his money away,
Wasting his life day by day,
Slowly killing himself and his daughter who never really knew,
That her daddy doesn't love her, and every word is true.
