Would never win

He was back
after what seemed like a year
he avoided the topic
which brought her to tears

why couldn't he just say
yes or no
instead of making her wait
unsure she would ever know

she couldn't take it
she had cried every night
tossed and turned
eyes closed in fright

she had to move on
she tried not to think about him
she went to the movies
and cried when the lights went dim

everywhere she went
she was haunted
with thoughts of him
no where to hide
she would never win.......
