The Key To My Soul

by Maisha   Jun 28, 2005

My eyes-the key to my soul,
The way they react to your words,
The hurt is not present there,
But I definitely felt it.

Can’t you see the way we used to be?
We were happy and free,
And then suddenly-
You changed.

That fight we had ages ago,
I’m the one who should hold the grudge.
The force was more than I thought.
You hold on to it, you hold on a lot.

My anger and hurt should be apparent to you.
But you’re blinded by ignorance.
The way you are, the conflict you avoid,
It will come out and your life destroyed.

Somehow you never see the flaws you have
And how you could be.
Maybe you should try to believe
That everyone has faults, even me.

You thought I was more cleaver than the rest.
You thought you’d put my heart to test.
Can’t you see I’m trying?
Can’t you see I’m dying?

My heart is breaking
And my life’s taking flight.
Now you’ll see that I’m human,
Now you’ll know I fail too.

At everything and anything you give me.
I’ll fail tonight and tomorrow too,
But I never thought our
Friendship would fail so soon.
