A Chink In The Armor Of Love

by wayne t   Jun 29, 2005

Love is armor which can do many things to your life good or bad,
Worn as a badge of honor between two souls becoming as one,
Protecting, comforting, heightening your senses, giving meaning,
It can last a lifetime, alas the armor can be flawed, a chink appears,

Your heart, your feelings, are protected inside this armor of love so safe,
Over the course of time you take a few blows, unable to penetrate inside,
Then the unspeakable happens, contempt and hate rears its ugly head,
Making an old flaw in the armor become weakened, revealing your soul,

Your lifelong love now becomes your adversary, seizing any opening now,
To drive the knives of hate within decapitating any love left inside the soul,
Words not actions become more deadly than an assassin's sword to kill,
Being one of honor, you shy away from attacking, just retreat in silence,

Heart and soul wounded and depleted, armor did not protect love within,
Can you repair the armor, can you trust it to protect your love ever again,
Are the old flaws reinforced as not to become a weakpoint in your soul,
The scares on your heart will heal, can you recover to don your armor,

Many have chinks in their armor, allowing the pain of love to get inside,
To restore the armor of love to it's brightness, you shall find another one,
Whose armor has been breached, ready for a repair, strengthen by love,
Now protected once again by the shinny armor of love, life can continue.
