That Day

by StormyWeather   Jun 30, 2005

You’d think after all those months
I’d remember your laugh, or your eyes
You’d think I’d remember your smile
But I remember goodbyes
I picture you as you were then
On the day you packed and walked
I can’t forget my birthday that year,
The last time that we talked
I remember watching you turn round,
With a smile on your face
And raindrops dropping on your skin
So your tears left no trace
I can’t remember much at all
Except that I loved you a lot
I can just about see the things that you gave
But the rest, I have simply forgot
I remember that moment when you hesitated,
And I hoped you would not go away
But now I find I can always remember
How you dressed and you looked on that day
