Smiling down on me

by Emily Barclay   Jul 2, 2005

Granddad why is everyone crying,
Saying to me you left us today,
Because every time I look,
I see you smiling down the same way,

It reminds me of when I was younger,
And in your garden I would play,
I was young and carefree,
Not a sad word to say,

Well I guess things change allot,
As now I'm saying your not around,
And to me there the saddest words,
To ever make a sound,

You might not be here in body,
But in spirit you'll stay forever,
As you touched so many lives,
And this binds your souls together,

You touched my life continuously,
And now I shed a tear for you,
Because I'm glad your not in pain,
But sad you moved on to,

You may be many things,
But my granddad you always are,
And now when I need my granddad,
I'll look for the brightest star,

So no more tears will I cry,
As I'm sure you don't want me in pain,
To us it's the greatest loss,
But to you it's the greatest gain,

I'll miss you so much,
But I'll see you one day soon,
We're separated for now,
But if i need you I'll look to wards the moon,

I wish you would come back,
But there's nothing I can do,
I'll remember all the good times,
But learn from the bad ones to,

I wish you wouldn't have gone,
But I'm glad I spent time with you,
So now I understand,
Why your leaving me to,

I would like to say I love you,
But I hope you already know,NOW i speak to you only in prayer,
Wanting to hear your voice so,

I would like to say your hear,
But I know in the wind is where you can be,
Up above with Nana,
Smiling down on me.
