Hope (Alone in the Snow)

by Lyudmila   Jul 4, 2005

I know it's a litle long, but please read it.

She stands there in the barren field
Flurries of white drift on down
Gently landing softly on the ground
Snow covered hair, snow covered shoulders
Simply standing there as it gets colder

Cold outside and cold falling on down
Yet feet stand firmly on the ground
Though knees are weak
Throat too frozen to speak
Lips blue and nose red
Frozen solid yet far from dead

Slowly the snow builds about her
Wind starts up slowly whistling
Blasts of cold that could send her reeling
Yet she stands firm in the cold mounting snow
It pounds at her, screams at her
But no one to help, for she is alone

The cold bleeds in through her skin
Freezing the rushing blood within
The wind howls, snow falls in piles
She stands motionless for a while
Completely buried in snow and cold
The frigid weather starts to take hold

Through all this the hope shines through
Her heart is beating though her skin is blue
She stands still waiting in the wintry air
Standing untouched by worry or despair
The blizzard comes and there's nowhere to go
As the hopeful girl is drowned in snow

But her warm heart filled with hope keeps her alive
Days later she is no longer alone and help has arrived
They dig her out expecting to find the girl dead
They find her strongly alive instead
She stayed hopeful when it seemed all hope was lost
And stayed alive through the cold and frost

So when it seems as though all hope is gone
And when it seems as though you are all alone
Keep on hoping and holding on
For you won't be alone for long
When it seems the world is cold and bitter
Just hang on... spring will come after winter
