Single Mother's Song

by Augusta   Jul 7, 2005

Quietly waiting,
(and hoping)
Not sure how to feel
(but I'm coping)
About to lose my world
(but gain so much)
To think it all started
(with just a touch)
Broken hearts
(and endless crushed dreams)
Life is
(never how you think it seems)
And I lie awake at night
(with fear)
Afraid I can't do it
(without him here)
Truth is I can't stand
(to hear his voice)
And I knew this
(when I made my choice)
Maybe I thought I could
(just forget)
But push come to shove I have
(no regrets)
Because soon will come
(my beautiful child)
With eyes so big
(and hair all wild)
And I'll take comfort in the fact (that she's mine)
Since he doesn't want to be here
(thats fine!)
I'll be that face
(that she looks upon)
I'll be her friend, guidance
(father and mom)
I'll raise my baby
(I'll be the boss)
And as far as I'm concerned
(it's his loss)
Of course, I didn't want it
(to be this way)
I wanted to be married
(before I saw this day)
The thing about life is you can't
(always plan)
And you can't always tell a boy
(from a man)
I guess its time
(to face my truth)
I've become a statistic
(of America's youth)
So this could be my chance
(to break away)
If the games getting harder
(then tougher I'll play)
Shove everyone's doubts right back
(in their face)
I'm a very smart woman
(I'm aware of my place)

I have to put you in my favorites. This is great. I feel the same way with my little one but I am married.

Just because he is there - doesn't mean "he's there"
