The Aftermath

by Augusta   Sep 2, 2005

My eyes well up with tears
Watching suffering and pain
But they wont heal the saddness
I fear my tears may bein vain
And though I've tried to help
I think our answer here is plain
Its time for us to take a stand
Tell me, who will stop the rain?

While we all watch this going on
And think "It wont happen to me"
As we see these people dying
And cling to false security
Any solutions here are scarce
And shrouded by obscurity
But this is closer then we think
This time, its in our own country

Dear Victim: I'm sorry for the loss
Of your life, home, and possessions.
I know things are bad, and you need help
From the Katrina caused oppression.
My heart goes out to you, my friends
With this sincere confession
I'm thankful that it wasn't worse...
But now we need to focus on progression.
