Alone in the dark

by nicole   Jul 8, 2005

Darkness falls as light takes over day
Light becomes shadows
White fades Grey
Wind rustles the leaves

Breaks the silence, whistles and shouts
In the hollow of a tree an owl sits
Eyes fixated, never moving about

Crickets play their songs
Full of chips and endless sounds
Footsteps are heard in the distance
On the soft, hollow ground

The moon with all its beauty
Casts a soft, endless light
Images are played along houses
Over windows, and into sight

Images of shadows dance recklessly among the walls
Climb up and over stairs
Weave up and down halls

The soft white light is pierced
By a faint, orange glow
Shadows slowly fade
Now that the sun, has rose

The crickets slowly fade
Play their songs one last time
Before the morning birds take over
Play there awakening, morning chime
