He Makes Me Smile

Sometimes in this world
You feel so down
And you want to cry
Since no one else is around

And you wish it was over
You can't stand to live
Another minute, another hour
Another day like this

And I won't lie
I feel like that a lot
But there is one person that keeps me going
And sometimes he's all I've got

There are days I am so sad
But he always makes me smile
Says the right things at the right times
Sometimes he can make life worthwhile

He tells me about his thoughts
And listens to my chatter
Full of compassion and honesty
Even the little things matter

He's the ultimate friend
His moods swing like mine do
If I'm happy, he's hilarious
But he can be serious, too

It's hard for us to hang out
We have pretty different styles of choice
His friends don't like me
But he listens to my voice

He sticks up for me
And I stick up for him
We tease each other
But we are there for each other in the end

People like to tease
And say we're more than friends
We just laugh about it
I doubt this friendship will end

He insults me playfully
And I come right back
He says I wish I was cool like him
Well, he wishes he had my six-pack

But when I'm all caught up
In things I can't understand
And I need a little humor and motivation
Well, he's my man

So this goes out to him
He keeps me going
And he means a lot to me
Without him even knowing

I thank God for him every day
He doesn't have my style
And I don't have his wicked coolness
But he always makes me smile.
