I Know Me

by Carlee Ann   Jul 17, 2005

Do you think you know me?
Or am I stranger to you?
You think you can dissect my heart
But you are overdue

You don't know who I am
But there is someone who does
And she thinks I am ok
That all I do is more than enough

You don't know her, either
Because she and I are one
And I know who I am
My journey has just begun

You may not like the things I do
But I don't care what you think
I like who I am and my choices
And I'll stick up for me in a wink

Some call me lame and a prude
Since I don't date or drink or smoke
But I believe in what I do
To me, God isn't a joke

I do what is right for me
And I wouldn't change a thing
Because if I wasn't true to myself
There would be consequences to bring

I have no fear in what comes next
God is with me all the way
And I know and truly believe
He won't lead me astray

So here I am, this is me
And I won't change without my consent
If you can't accept I won't change for you
Well, go find someone different

Because I am confident with me
And if you disrespect my beliefs I will fight
I have integrity and pride
And I'll do what I think is right

So before you go and judge me
Remember, I don't care
And if you want to accept me
I'll always be there

But if you don't like me at all
And think I am confused
Don't pretend to be my friend
I hate nothing more than being used

Just let me be me
And nothing can go wrong
I've found out who I am
I knew me all along.
