The Fireplace

by Kane Burden   Jul 20, 2005

Love is like a fireplace
It can burn for eternity
But if you forget to add the wood
It dies down gradually
ending up as just a pile of ashes

Cold and dim,
your heart will be left in the fireplace.
waiting for the next match to be stricken
Igniting the fireplace a new
Fire rising from the ashes once again.

The trick is to keep the fire going
Constantly adding new pieces of wood
Keeping the fire going through all seasons

Don't ever let it out of control
Because that is when things collapse.
Chemicals putting on a drastic display
End up tearing the house apart

Mind, body and soul will be lost forever
Unable to rebuild.
For the perfect fire only happens once
You will never come across it again.
