Darkness

by Caitlyn   Jul 24, 2005

I walk down an alley
Where all the color is just black and white
No color or sun can be found
Everyone is losing every fight

Tears flood the streets
No laughing can be heard
All is taken over by the presence of darkness
Not a single soul even whispers a content word

Every eye filled with the pigment black
Every voice heard filled with hate
Everyone falling to the ground
It seems like the world as met it’s fate

I try to resent the darkness of the world
I scream and reach to the sky
Wanting to go away from the wickedness
At a cliff I pray I can fly

I turn around watching everyone crumble
Darkness has taken every soul
A tear drops down my cheek
And it hits the ground turning the color of coal

I close my eyes getting ready to jump
But I hear a whisper next to me
I feel a touch like never before
The voice says, “There’s another way to be free.”

I look around trying to find this voice’s face
But nothing is there
By one word I that I whisper
I feel a hug by someone who cares

I look back to the people
Yearning for them to see the light
No one looks up to the sky
Only I can see the sun shining bright

Not a feeling of darkness is in my soul
I have a reason to smile
All evil in my mind is finally gone
I know I will feel like this a long while

Soon everyone whose eyes are now closed
Will hear the voice of someone from above
Sometime in the future a word will be whispered
The same word I had whispered, love
