You Are My Hero

by Amber Gail   Jul 27, 2005

My cousin is about to be deployed to Iraq. We had a big party for him and it's hard seeing him go so I had to try finding words to tell him how proud we are of him and how much we will miss him. plz comment/rate:

There are so many things,
That I really want to say.
But it’s hard finding the right words,
To make it come out the right way.

It’s because of people like you,
That we are called “the land of the free”.
You make us feel safe in our homes,
By protecting this wonderful country.

It is very sad to see you go,
Of course it is hard to watch you leave.
But I know you will return home safely,
Because in you, I believe.

You will be in our hearts and minds,
Every minute of the day.
And when we lay our heads down at night,
We will think of you and pray.

So I ask God now to watch over you,
And send one of his angels from up above.
To always be with you and remind you,
That back home you are missed and loved.

There is one thing,
I want to say before you go.
No matter what never forget,
That you are my hero.
