If I Only Knew..

I’m standing here
Alone, confused, with no idea what to do
Feel naked and all bare.
Why I did it? If I only knew.

If I only knew why I went out tonight
“ Come on, it’ll be alright”, he said.
Suddenly in my hand I held a knife,
On the ground was a man, he was dead!

I ran through woods, and over stones
Till I finally came out of the darkness
But all my eyes could see, was the dead man’s bones
And my heart was filled with regret and sadness

Why did he do it to me?
Try to make me love him like lovers do
He hit, kissed and touched me, but couldn’t see
That I could never love him, like lovers do.

I then saw a knife in his pocket,
I grabbed for it while he tried to get inside of me
Suddenly blood was all over my jacket
But I knew, I now was free.

So here I stand all alone
On a cliff in the middle of nowhere
I hear the wind, it calls me home
To a land I know of somewhere.

This land has no grief, nor sorrow or pain.
And no harm can anyone do.
But the one question keeps coming up again;
Why I did it? If I only knew.
