I look at what I see
The mother abusing her child
The husband hitting his wife
The man raping the stranger

I look at how they react
The child taking the abuse
The wife not hitting back
The strangers muffled cries

As the years pass
The child
The wife
And the stranger
Are all reminders
Of me
