Bruises

by Sweeti   Jul 29, 2005

Why was I so stupid
I knew you wouldn't care
I should have just listened
When you told me to get away

Now I'm left with bruises
From when I was pushed down
To the hard cold floor
Left with these tears
Streaming down my cheeks
Left with the sound of you
Laughing at your cruelty

Now it's your turn to see
To see what I can be
I'm not a little girl anymore
I can show the world my pain

It's not my turn for bruises anymore
It's not my turn to be hurt
Not my turn for tears
It's your turn for pain
It's my turn to laugh
It's my turn to hurt
It's my turn to smile
Not yours
It's your turn to be
On the hard cold floor

Why was I so stupid
I knew you wouldn't care
I should have just listened
When you told me to get away
Get away

I'm not left with bruises anymore
I've learned to rise above it
I'm not wallowing in my own self-pity
I'm going over, not under
I'm floating, not sinking
You told me to get away
Now I'm gone
