A Kid Again

by kiesha   Jul 29, 2005

They have so much fun in life.
Days filled with joy and hardly any strife.
They are so innocent, peaceful and pure,
They have virgin eyes, ears, and hearts, of this I'm sure.

Taking turns on the swings and going down slides,
Running the fastest is an achievement of great pride.
Cute little clothes and character themed shoes.
Going on treasure hunts and looking for clues.

Playing ball games or hide and seek in the park,
They are put to bed as soon as it's dark.
They live a life full of simple pleasures.
But to me, that is a great treasure.

Instead of pretending, I now have a real job.
Sitting in my cubicle next to a man named Bob.
Instead of getting married on the playground to a cute boy,
My heart has been played with and broken like a toy.

I always wanted to be an adult. I thought it would be fun.
But never did I think there were so many things to be done.
Since I grew, I found it ironic, I did,
Now I'm grown up and I wish I could be a kid.
