Darkness lies

by Iolana   Jul 30, 2005

~This is one of the very few things I have written lately, its a little long... Thank you for reading~

Darkness,
A thing here since the dawn of time
The world began this way
The world will end this way,
In darkness
It lives all around us
In the shadows that move in a dark room as we hide under our covers
in the snapping of branches when we are walking alone at night
in the breath on the back of our necks when we go down a dark alley
the hand that gives the young child cyanide-tainted candy
the hand that pushes the girls skirt up as she is being raped
the hand that hands the suicidal boy his knife
the hand that gives the dealer their drugs

the eyes that watch you sleep
the eyes that watch you shower
the eyes that watch you dress
the eyes that watch you lie
the eyes that glow in the night
the voice that tells you things you know you shouldn't do
the voice that tells you to take that extra step
the voice telling you paranoid thoughts
the voice turning you against your friends

Darkness, in all shapes
in all sizes
Darkness, drowning the light
till none is left
Darkness, swallowing you whole
till its its just to late
