The crush

by hunnibunnz   Jul 30, 2005

You were always somewhere in the background,
Sometimes so quiet not even making a sound.
I wanted to turn around, knowing you were there.
Cause I could tell from the burning of your stare.
When we saw each other, we would usually look away.
Scared, shy, not really knowing what to say.
Finally one day, I decided to take a chance.
I went to talk to you, just wanting another glance.
It felt so good to look you in your eyes,
Hoping you couldn't read what my heart wanted to cry.
For your birthday, we ended up on the same boat,
If it wasn't fate, at least it had restored my hope.
Throughout the day we were laughing and playing,
But our departure is what we were delaying.
As the day came to an end,
At least I could say we were friends.
But to my surprise, it wasn't over yet.
The hot tub was offering to keep us warm and wet.
Under the water our hands and feet would touch.
The joy and excitement was almost too much.
All day long a smile was on my face.
But does cupid's arrow work at that pace?
It's hard to say what love can do,
I just hope you felt the same way too.
After the hot tub, a movie was on the list.
It didn't matter to me, I was still hoping for a kiss.
The frustrations of having you so near,
Still not reaching out because of our fear.
In the end, a kiss I did not get.
But a wonderful day I will never forget
