The Hardest Thing

by Matthew Guitor   Aug 3, 2005

The hardest thing is usually best,
And no matter how much I contest,
I know it will Transpire,
The consequences will be dire.
The fact is I hate how things are,
From happiness it is far,
It is the only option I can come to,
I dread the aftermath that will pursue.
I can only control me,
But don’t want to be free,
I have too many options for a single choice,
I choose to listen to my inner voice.
My decisions lately haven’t been wise,
Every time I do something someone cries,
I can’t do this anymore,
I’m tired of making hearts sore,
I think its time I finally say,
It’d be best if I went away.

Good flow. The pace was fast, but it fit the poem. I liked this one, the words you used brought out the emotion. Nicely done.
