Looking Out My Window

Looking out my window
I see a wonderful bright blue sky
But what I see myself
Is not in other peoples’ eyes

Looking up my street
Everyone’s happy and nobody’s crying
But other people in other places
Have to live with their family dying

We have to take a look and see
Things aren’t how they’re meant to be
Maybe where we are, things are fine
But it isn’t our lives on the line

Looking around my house
I have food, clothes and fun
But what about those other people?
They have nothing, they have none

Looking at the news on the TV
I realised that I am alive
But what about the children and adults
Who fight each day just to survive?

Things aren’t how they’re meant to be
Maybe where we are, things are fine
But it isn’t our lives on the line

Looking at my friends
We go out shopping, parties and then our proms
But they live their world in fear each day
Scared of the violence, the deaths and the bombs

Looking at my bed each night
We can rest our head and shut our eyes
But please don’t forget the other world
Where any day, they could die
