I Remember

I remember waking up in the middle of the night,
remember hearing screaming from down the hall,
but i couldn't get to the light.
I flipped at the switch,
but there was just no use,
the darkness hid her pain,
as I wondered what to do...
Mommy screams again,
as I hear something fall,
everything went silent,
except for the footsteps coming down the hall.
Daddy's getting closer,
I just wanted to run,
so I hid under my bed,
just as the lights come on.
Daddy just comes over,
and lifts up the blankets of my bed,
says,"come on out Baby"
I can smell the whiskey on his breath.
He grabbed me by my hair,
pulled me to the floor,
yanked me to my feet
then shoved me toward the door...
I stumbled down the hall,
remembering what was left of their fight,
Daddy had been drinking,
and killed Mommy last night.

Daddy's now in jail,
Mommy's in the ground,
none of this would've happened,
if Mommy wouldn't have f**ked around.
