The Back Of My Hand

by Renee   Aug 16, 2005

I write your name on the back of my hand
and draw a bright red heart next to it
Incase I might forget
just how much you mean to me.

And when it seems you don't care,
and I scream "You've never been there"
As I watch the back of your head as you walk away
I look at the back of my hand and it whispers your name.

So when you call to apologize,
and I tell you there will always be fights
We exchange "I love you's" and as I hang up the phone
I see the back of my hand, your name speaks so monotone.

It's like when I walked in on that last conversation,
I heard no conversing, but I saw your relation
and you tried to explain, just the way she was mounted
caused the back of my hand pain as your name was shouted.

I try to forget the memories of you,
I wash my hands till they're brand new,
But for some strange reason,
your name keeps reapearing,
and the back of my hand muffles an old "I love you"...
