Let Me Love You

Let Me Love You

I walk up to you
And take your hand
You push it away
And ignore my command
My desperate yells
My thoughtful words
Are swept into the air
And away with the birds

I lean against your chest
And snuggle up tight
But you stare at me strangely
As if it’s not right
I ask you what’s wrong
You ignore what I say
And the silence stays between us
With each passing day

*What am I doing wrong?
What can I do right?
Why does loving me
Cost all of your might?
Remember what you told me
Was that not true?
Can’t you just relax
And let me love you?*

I smile at your face
And you look into my eyes
But mine are filled with love
Yours are filled with cries
You move away from me
You do not want me there
You cannot be around me
And you don’t even care

You glare at me so evilly
I’m your greatest despise
Yet all I have done is love you
Tried to be that golden prize
I am like your slave
Holding on for one last sign
A sign that says you love me
And you believe that you are mine

*What am I doing wrong?
What can I do right?
Why does loving me
Cost all of your might?
Remember what you told me
Was that not true?
Can’t you just relax
And let me love you?*
