My Forsaken Life

I hug your picture every night
I say a little prayer
I'm afraid and it's a shame
That I'm here, and you're there
Something happened that frighful day
You got into your car
You were driving away
And now you've gone to far
At your funeral, I was little
A baby nothing more
In fact in months, I've been told
I was less than four
As a daddy, your duty
Is to protect and to hold
But it's hard to do it from Heaven
Harder when your body is cold
