The Life of A...

by Ashlee Nicole   Aug 20, 2005

I look from above,
And see down Below.
The life of a druggie,
This life I do know

I watch the girl hurt,
I watch the girl cry.
With only one escape,
The one to get high.

The weed she smokes,
The things she snorts.
I watch her decay.
Her last resorts.

I look from above,
And see down below
The life of an alcoholic,
This life I do know.

I watch her suffer,
I watched her crash
Over a lost love,
Then go get smashed.

She wanted and yearned
Loved her more then you'd think
Her sorrow everynight
Causing her to drink.

She drank it all away
Her heart made no sound.
I watched her fall,
Quickly to the ground.

I look from below,
And see up above.
The life of myself.
And some that I love.

So sad, and so very inspirational. The poem says it all. There is nothing bad I can say about it. 5/5

I liked the repitition of the "knowing" stanza, and I thought that the way you ended it by notifying the reader that it is a person (not yourself) that is the druggie and alcoholic makes this poem good. Although sad, this poem is as much a poem about friendship and love as it is about sadness and depression.
