The spaces stretch between us In these years of slow decay Til golden days are grander Than the ones we live today If eyes have gathered wrinkles I can still recall your grin Through an ever-fading laughter That I never thought would dim I no longer walk beside you And I can’t help you through the vines But I’ve learned to thank the Maker For each treasure that you find Should you wonder my intentions Know you’re still my sacred cup That I'm reaching for the heavens Toward the only hands I trust Your light has strayed the shadows As our pulses keep the time My heart will guard the fortress That we’ve rendered in our minds Tonight, your presence lingers As these pages start to fill For a face I can’t remember And a name that haunts me still
