Memories Remain

by Ann Stareyes   Aug 31, 2005

Down a lonely road
We sometimes often walk
Looking for direction
Hoping not to fall.

Trying to fight feelings
That cause so much pain
Reconstructing our hearts
With hopes of love to gain.

We slowly wipe away tears
That flow from our eyes
Try to erase memories
That surely makes us cry.

I've had to walk through darkness
In order to find my way
Hoping to find the path
To lead to brighter days.

Memories still remain
Some how I can't erase
They'll live within my heart
A heart...that could never hate.
