The person i once knew

I remember the person I once knew so long ago
I don’t remember the curves of his face
I don’t remember the sound of his voice or even the way he spoke my name

But I remember the way he brightened my day just by being around
I remember thinking he could do no wrong and holding him close to my heart terrified of him one day trying to slip away

I remember the feeling I got when I held him in my arms and even more the feeling I felt when he was no longer there

But the person I once knew, isn’t you anymore
I know the curves of your face like the back of my hand
I know the bitter sound of your voice and the empty tone you use when you call out my name

I know the way you think you can come and go in and out of my life as you please
I know all the wrongs that have taken place

And now I run away from you dancing from the truth
Hoping that someday ill see the you that I once so long ago knew
