Heart Hanging High

by Renee   Aug 31, 2005

Tell me something, whisper anything
hang my hopes high, keep pretending
Just cut the rope, that's got me so desperately choking
I'm tired of cloud nine, and all this false hoping.

I can't live in this beautiful dream anymore,
as reality catches up, my feet hit the floor
Sweltering hot pavement, the road of real life
my body crawls helplessly, but you have my heart hanging high.

I reach with all my strength, arms extended
you reel it farther up, hurricane winds have it bended
I scream for you to stop, quit toying with my emotions
that angelic face shows no expression, you don't know your own poison.

I pray to your heavens, please send these thoughts to hell
I can't afford to be broken, and that's where it's going, I can tell.
I'll hand you this mind, of which you've taken over
place my heart in my hands, the one you got beating once more.
