The Dream

by Mikie Taylor   Sep 1, 2005

My heart beats, I lie awake, await sleep,
The hands on the clock seem,
To stand still and stop breathe,
Reach to unlock dreams,
Deep in my eyes gleam,
Struggle to keep what my mind sees,
Feet sink in water knee deep,
Temporary breach in reality,
Bleach my mentality,
Never awake to normality,
Break from mortality,
This place is dark and cold,
I embrace to embark my soul,
To my waist the water flows,
Electricity inside of me instantly,
It consistently tries in lifting me,
But I'm paralyzed by this epiphany,
Inside the fire has smoldered,
Now submerged as high as my shoulders,
The waters grow colder,
Inner heat released,
Stream turns to sea,
Water covers and over powers me,
Washes away my screams,
Skies part and light is seen,
Inner beast has ceased,
Eased away, released in my dreams,
Suddenly my mind leaps,
My soul I keep,
Lungs clear and from my eyes water seeps,
My heart beats, as my bed creaks,
Once again,
I lie awake, await sleep.
