The race that blew my mind

by JC   Sep 4, 2005

I was running a race,
running at my own pace.
Then it happened as i lost my footing,
and started kicking.

I had no control i lost it all,
I tried so hard to prevent myself from the fall.
Woke up on the floor,
right next to a cool breeze from a door.
People were there i believe,
but the fact is that i couldn't breathe.

My eyes were blurred,
as i tried to swerve.
I couldn't move as my body lay numb,
My mind was racing as it went bum, bum, bum.

Coming to and fading out,
i don't know what i said out loud.
Profanities, or kicking and screaming, i don't know.
I didn't know what happened or how.

Tired and weak, lips dry, pale, and couldn't speak.
Wishing i were dead cause the pain was not so bleak.
What was i to do?
What could i say?
My mind was wondering a thousand directions,
each and every way.

My memory gone, still its so long,
yet it was yesterday and i still have no opinion,
like a walking zombie, i sit and stare, not willing to do much,
but not willing to care.

Not knowing who i am or having knowing what to do,
I just listen to the people around me who can go ahead and choose.
