After it all, she had cheated Death...

by Forsaken Redeemer   Sep 6, 2005

She looked up to the night-time sky
As those salty tears filled her eyes,
She raised her knife up in the air,
And slammed it down without a care.
She felt the blood drain through her veins,
Feel it release all her pains,
She felt her body relax and slacken,
She felt her soul grow cold and blacken.
She felt her Collectors grip touch her heart
As mind and body break apart,
He pulled her up and held her tight,
'For you, my dear, there will be no Light.'
She felt the fear and gasped a breath,
And knew that she had met her death.
She knew she was going to some place new,
And that all her wishes had come true.
'You think so, my dear?
You poor thing, it all seems so clear.
That I am here to save you,
And pull you through,
To take you to see God, your Maker?'
His grip grew tighter, but he did not take her,
He simply smiled like he knew
All the things she expected to go through.
To see God and the Devil, be taken to the edge,
And have some satanic vows to pledge.
To be forced to redeem all her sins,
And look back through all those things
She'd put her family and friends through,
The things that she'd been planning to do.
'No my darling, nothing like that,
There's nothing you need to look back at.
Everything's been sorted out,
And you no longer need to live in doubt.
Your family will be happy as they've never been,
They just need time to forget all they've seen,
On this terrible night
As they saw the moment your soul took flight,
As you came to my arms, my sweet embrace.
Seeking to find all that grace
You felt your life lacked,
As your soul slacked
And leaned into that dark despair,
But you've taken yourself out of there.'
For the first time his face looked dark, hidden in shadow.
'Before we leave there's a few things you'll need to know.
Firstly, I know about no wonderful beings,
And can't erase all you've seen.
I can't stop your soul from thinking why?
Why are there no more stars in the sky
To twinkle down on your damned soul,
No heavens light to make you whole?
For everyone wonders all these things
Before they even get a chance to earn their wings.
Everyone wonders why, and how?
I could explain, but not right now.
We simply just don't have the time
For me to share the knowledge that's mine.
For now, I've been sent to school you,
To prepare you for the things you'll have to go through.'
He placed his hand in the small of her back,
And immediately she felt her body go slack.
She collapsed right there into his arms,
Giving over herself to his celestial charms.
He picked her up beneath her neck and her knee,
'Now remember darling, hold tight to me.'
He cradled her close and shielded her head,
'Don't flinch, my darling, it won't hurt, you're dead.'
She nuzzled her face sweetly into his chest
But knew that tonight there would be no rest.
Then she heard the air rushing by,
She always wanted to know what it was like to fly,
The wind roaring in her ears
As it all melts away, her pains, her fears.
He took her to Hell and bought her back again,
He made her see all her faults, the people she caused pain.
All of them with faces blanched and scared,
All of them crying, she learnt her lesson there.
He took her to Heaven and bought her back again,
Back to the ground where the innocent are slain.
He gave her a chance to remake her choice,
This time make use of her crying voice,
To go back to that world where she came through birth,
A chance to walk again upon that earth.
She looked back down to her family and friends,
All crying, this wasn't how it was supposed to end!
The tears slid down, hot and wet,
'Let me go back, I don't want to forget'
He sighed and dropped her through the air,
She fell to the ground without a care,
Slammed into her body, felt the pain rush through,
Jolting her limbs and in that moment she knew,
She knew when she took that gasping breath,
That after it all, she had cheated Death...
