Daddy's Little Girl

by k i k i   Sep 6, 2005

Held by the hands that helped
To create me, and who I will
Grow up to become,
My daddy, the only man in my life.
I'm growing up fast, time short of
Me walking alone, ready to move on.

Twirling around in my pink tutu,
Flicking my wand, making your dreams come true,
I'm your little girl and never will I leave.
Bed ridden and tired,
You help me back to better health,
Cuddling me, wiping away the fear.

Running off for my first day,
Scared, not knowing what to expect.
You cry at the sight of me,
Leaving you.
I come back with a present, drawing for you,
Playing in the park, just you and me.

Feet stomping around the house,
Hormones and opinion too much for me to handle,
But I know you understand,
It's just a phase; I'll pull through.
Late nights partying, boys and temper,
I'm not your little girl.

Arrival of the day I have always dreamt of,
White dresses and frangipani bouquets.
Exchange of two rings, committing to my love,
You walk me down the aisle.
Glad that your little girl has come so far, but
Sad that I'm growing up fast.

Like it was yesterday that we sang
And played in the park.
But you're still my daddy,
And I'm still your little girl.
I made your dreams come true,
Now mine are too.
