Happy Birthday My Love

This moment only comes once a year
The surprise birthday she doesn't know of yet
As I prepare for the occasion to come
The time of her life she will never forget...

Arranging the flowers, looking forward to this very day
Awaiting her are yellow tulips and water lilies in a bouquet
Soothing music filling the room, playing her favorite song
So beautiful yet perfect, nothing could of went wrong...

She was different yet strong, most would of burst into tears
So I remained completely hidden, nowhere to be found
A scentful path of white rose petals leading her upstairs
Leading her into my bedroom, not making a single sound...

A small puppy leaps towards her, shocked at first
Wrapped in a red ribbon, a letter in the mouth
Cuddling and holding the small dog in her arms
The letter written said "Look to your south"...

Behind her were gifts of love and everlasting memory
A shirt she wanted, a book she kept talking about
A pearl necklace and a pair of angel wing earrings,
Her favorite chocolate she couldn't live without...

The window inside the bedroom was wide open
Even thought it was chilly she slowly stepped outside
Climbing thought the window, step by step carefully
She saw me on the roof holding a blanket and cried...

Wiping the tears away, I wrap the wool blanket around her
Our hands intertwine as we reach out for the stars above
Holding each other tight, ending with a wet lasting kiss
