Single Tear

by Kyle   Sep 16, 2005

I paused to stand
a single white rose
In my hand
At the threshold of the door
The feeling of loss I wanted no more
I see her body lying there
She looked so warm and without a care
As I took her ring
From around her finger
The meaning of life
in my head
Started to linger
Down my cheek
Ran a single tear
Then looked to my future
Endowed with fear
All who were watching
Did not speak as
I tore that tear
Off my cheek
Through my mind
Memories ran
Of moments we walked
Both Hand in Hand
But now Her eyes
so horribly cold
For I would never again
have her to hold
They watched in silence
As I bent near
I whispered I Love You
In her ear
I touched her face and wanted to cry
But what I wouldn't do
Is weep or sigh
As I put on the ring
I wanted to die
All I did
Was kiss her goodbye
And just then,
the wind started to blow
As they lowered the casket
So deep into the snow
