My Singing Star

by Angel   Sep 21, 2005

You glance at me
As you sing that song
Of a happy couple
With a love so strong

I smile at you
As the words surround me
The warmth is comforting
And you are all I see

Every eye on you
As I lean back in my chair
I breathe in the atmosphere
And intensify my stare

I long so much to hold you
And tell you how I feel
How you are everything to me
And my heart is yours to steal

The whole crowd wants you
My singing star
They follow you around
To wherever it is you are

You finish your set
And give me a cuddle
You take the seat next to me
My feelings a muddle

I am so close to your heart
Yet so far away
I want you as my lover
But your friend I must stay

To avoid the heartache
Of maybe losing you
Not just as a partner
But as a friend too

So as you kiss my cheek
And take the stage again
I cheer for my friend
For you are a perfect ten

Really nice work!!! Continue to write and improve your over all skill - rhythm, rhyme, flow, and word usage. Take the time to study the craft and read and study the works of the great poets that came before you. I suggest buy a book on writing poetry, such as, "Complete Idiot's Guide to Writing Poetry by Nikki Moustaki ", a book of collected works of poetry featuring some of the established poets, and perhaps, a book on English and Grammar, Writing, Composition, and Style, to sure up those writing and grammar mistakes we all make and to improve yourself as a writer overall, but all in all really nice work, continue on!!!
