The Ghost & The Rose

by ~*Native*Mami*~   Sep 23, 2005

I walked alone, barely existing
Just a ghost
Far from me
Through the concrete grew a rose

I found her innocently
Where the sidewalk ends
I had no one
She became my dearest friend

With time spent
Emotion grew deep to the soul
No matter the circumstance
Her warmth would always beat the cold

So alone I was
In the night
Almost drowned by darkness
When she brought everlasting light

She cared about me
For who I was
Never before
Had I felt such love

I felt it throughout my body
As if it had replaced my blood
Good for me, but highly addictive
Like heaven's drug

So many times
Has this love been put to the test
But no matter the case
Our love proved timeless

Without this rose
I am lost
Without her help
I could not have escaped death's jaws

It seems to me
I owe her my life
Blessed with the thought
Of the day she becomes my wife

Sometimes it seems so hard
With us being so far apart
My only wish is
That she remembers she's always in my heart

A love anybody would be foolish not to believe in
For this feeling gives me reason

Without this rose
I would only be that lonely ghost.
