For the Moon

by void.   Sep 24, 2005

River, River, reflecting light,
Show me your metaphors of bookish might:
Some say you're calm and steady;
Others warn you're stubborn and heady.
Which is it? What game do you play?
If you can't now decide, I'll be back another day.

Love, sweet Love,
You flighty bird my dreams are of,
I know not your outline,
Yet I want you to be mine-
Are you guilty? How do you plead?
My heart torn by mobs with you in the lead.

Moon, O wise Moon!
Guardian of the night,
Light my way; for innocence fight!
For the Dark promises to spread ignorance
And I have only you, sacred Moon for my defence.
Will you not come and light my way?
Your face's grace enchants; can't you stay?
