In the Hole

by void.   Sep 24, 2005

I know you do not understand.
I realize you are afraid.
With everything wrong in your life,
How can this happen, too?

So you try to understand, to conquer
Your fear.
When in a hole, the only way to go is up.
Scrabble at the sides of the
Imaginary chasm, the metaphorical pit.
The more you climb, the more soil
Falls in- all around, all over.

For you see, those are the walls
That protect you.
You think you are trapped, abandoned-
Lost-
You are safer here, in the hole, behind
Walls,
Than you would be out there, with the
Bears, the tigers, and the Harsh Realities.
You must stay there for now, just for a while,
Until you are ready to
Climb out.
