Daddy Come home to us

by Xo The Forgotten One oX   Sep 25, 2005

It was a summer day,
the army came and took your daddy away,
you just sat still while momma cried,
cause you knew thats how your grandpa died.

You wrote a letter then,
scribbled on paper and written in pen,
"I love you Daddy and I miss you too,
I miss all the things that we used to do"

Daddy come home to us,
walk down the lane kickin' up dust,
give momma a kiss say, "honey i'm home
I promise not to leave us alone"

The days turned into years, Momma still cries her lonely tears,
no letter came from far away,
you got down on your knees and prayed.

"please send him home to us,
He'll walk down the lane kickin' up dust,
He'll give momma a kiss, say "Honey I'm home,
He'll promise not to leave us alone"

Time faded away,
months slipped by until one day,
you saw a man with an unshaven face,
He stood on the road and looked at the place.

Daddy came home to us,
walked down the lane kickin\' up dust
He gave momma a kiss said, \"Honey I\"m home
I promise not to leave you alone\"
