Just To See That Smile

by Angel Sanctuary ©   Sep 28, 2005

Something is missing inside
It is not like the world around
Will know what tortures me inside
Not even the person that lies next to me

I will die knowing none knew
Of the pain that torments me
The pain I breathe in everyday
You will never know my pain

But that is fine as long as you smile
The pain inside is at times tamed
If I can see that smile stretch across that face
Where your eyes shine into mine I will be fine

My days are brighter in looking at you
You shine my darkened soul
Sometimes I want to cry in your arms
Because at times I do not deserve that smile

You give me hope in a gesture
I used to scream on the top of my lungs
Thinking the echo was someone else
A love I used to know

Now I look at you smile and smile with you
My heart does not know what to do
For the first time it wants to burst out my chest
The pain will no hurt when it leaves me - pain I am used to -

I know this pain in me I can handle
With you I fear a greater pain
One I do not want to deal with
And one I will not accept

If that smile of yours fades away in the distances
Where you are alone in the rain crying
Cradling your head in your hands letting your tears wash away
My heart will crumble and stop and I will die at that sight

Your happiness is what I crave for
That smile that laugh that joy
Your words are what keeps me alive
Your suffering will make me die

Too beautiful in my eyes are you
To suffer the pain I have inside
I will shield you from all demons and Angels
I will suffer for you just so I can look up

See that smile on your face
From the dirt I lay upon
So you can walk across
Just close your eyes I will show you love

I will be the one embarrassed so you can smile
I will trip so you can help me up
I will walk without pride
Just to see that smile
