Under the Influence

by Mallory Vn   Sep 29, 2005

Glasses shading her eyes
the smudged black view
of a painful disguise
of a girl i once knew

she was always out there
always smiling
never without a care
every aspect of life she was trialling

now she sits in the corner
she doesn't which to speak
with no one left to mourn her
"they" now label her a freak

she started drinking and taking drugs
as she thought it would be cool
to start hanging with the thugs
of our up-kept school

she just got her license and decided to drive
under the influence of drink
buzzing from within she felt alive
sinking in her brain, she was left unable to think

waking up in hospital must have been a horrible time
seeing all the cuts, lucky to be alive
hearing the news that she will be fine
And the fact that her friends did not survive

so now at school she must walk in strife
all alone now because of her choice
to drive
she has on her shoulders the lost ones life's
and wishes now that she listened to the drink driving ad in lesson five

glasses shading her eyes
the smudged black view
of a painful disguise
of a girl i once knew
