Who's To Blame?/The Blame Game

by Jo   Oct 2, 2005

Who's to blame when she makes another fresh cut?
Should we blame her because she's the one who did the harm;
Or should we blame this empty world because it does nothing to show mercy for her pain?

Who's to blame when another loner has found some rope in their dad's shed?
Is it his fault for stepping off the chair that stood up so high;
Or was it the dad's fault for leaving the rope within his reach?

Who should be held responsible when the bullet of a 22 seeks through the skull of another lost one?
Should we blame the holder of the pistol because they pulled the trigger;
Or should we blame society for letting guns be legal?

Who's to blame when a 100 pound girl purposely loses pound after pound because she fears what people think of her or whether the world will accept her or not?
Is it her fault for being blind to her own illness and mistaking thoughts;
Or is it the scale's fault for showing her the numbers she doesn't want to see every time she checks it?

Who should we blame when another kid fails grade after grade because he chooses to skip school rather than face his torturing bullies?
Is it his fault for making that decision and consciously not wanting to suffer every single day of his miserable life;
Or is it the principle's fault for not stopping the bullies and allowing this boy to suffer at a place he should feel safe?

Who's fault is it when another person takes his or her own life or when people die at other's hands or of other causes?
Should we blame the dead for their ignorance or self-inflicted fates;
Or should we blame the human race for its continuous existence?
