Being different

by Sorefromreality   Oct 2, 2005

I am different
I know many people say it
But how many really mean it

I wear bold clothes
I dare to go
Where no one even knows

I say things people are scared to hear
I reveal things people have always feared
I do things people have never seen

I am opinionated
I am outgoing
I am an actress
I am a model
And I am a person

So if I am a person
Why do people think
that I have no feelings
When they point and spread gossip

I am the bud of all jokes
I am the person everyone hopes will croak
People laugh and stare
Like they've never seen an individual

They may have very well never seen one though
For society is frightned
By what may happen to them
If they reveal their true colors
Will their lives become grim

No one knows how to accept
No one knows how to cope
No one dares be unique

Life has become so dull
What are these people waiting for
There are no longer any challenges
No more excitement

Everyone laughs at me for being different
I laugh because they are all the same
I think differently
Stand up for what I believe
And for that you call me a freak?

I like it
Though it can be tough
It's not commitment
It's simply being different
