The Miracle

by Brittany   Oct 10, 2005

**wrote this when I was 13

People looked right through her,
to them she wasn't there.
She needed someone more than ever,
but no one bothered to care.

She held her books tightly in her arms,
with her eyes down low.
She walked silently down the hall,
so her feelings wouldn't show.

She hated being invisible.
She hated being smart.
She hated everything in her life,
with all of her heart.

Her plans were not seen,
when she went home that day.
Walking past her drunken father,
who never had anything to say.

She crept to her room,
determined to end it all.
All because no one ever took the time
to answer her pleading call.

She picked up her sisters picture,
and held it tightly in her hand.
"I'm sorry I have to leave you sis,
but there's nothing for me in this land."

And although her life was new,
although she was fifteen,
she decided life was just to sad.
Just too cruel and mean.

And so I stand here before you today,
telling you her story.
About my dear sister,
who never found her glory.

She wanted to find a miracle.
She wanted to switch life around.
And though you cannot see it,
her miracle was found.

She was the miracle.
She made me understand.
What I never understood,
what was the better for this land.

The better was equality.
No label for a teen.
For everyone to love each other.
For everyone to be seen.

My sister never got to see her miracle.
Because she resorted to the knife.
But I think she knows what her miracle is...
To show me the true meaning of life.
