The Price of Pride - A Prayer

by Lyn   Oct 13, 2005

There are those who disapprove
Of many things in me
But, Jesus you are kinder
Than they could ever be.
You are more merciful and just
Than any mere man
And anyone who loves you
Can fit into your plan.

Please help me oh my saviour
To change from deep within.
Hold my hand through all my life
And cleanse me from all sin.
I am not good enough, but you
With all your saving grace,
Transform me to a child of God
And make for me a place;

A place where only contrite hearts can flourish,
Where your hand is there to comfort and to guide,
Where live all those who've turned around to face you;
And in doing so have left behind their pride.

For pride is never worth the price it costs us
Your mercy and your grace are given free
But pride gets in the way of all your goodness
And makes us blind to all that we could be.
