The rain and I

by Ana   Oct 14, 2005

I lay upon the broken cement ground,
raindrops falling on my face as I stay unfound.
I feel stares,
piercing my skin.
They wonder why I am there,
freezing within.
The rain falls stronger,
but I do not move.
The sky grows darker,
but it's no use.
I dare no leave,
I stay and breathe,
The smell of raindrops on the ground,
is so pure; serenity its sound.
I move my hand, to make sure I'm alive,
my lips feel like stone as I whisper to sky.
I am wet and cold,
but the rain warms my soul.
The rain speaks to me,
a never ending symphony.
A connection that the rain and I share,
and no one notices it's there.
The rain falls everywhere upon me
as I close my eyes, sleep as it holds me.
